Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 25, 2026
Anodaw is built to be private by architecture: dictation runs entirely on your device, Mac or Windows PC.
What the app does with your data
- Audio and transcripts never leave your device. Recording, speech-to-text (on-device), and AI text cleanup (an embedded language model running inside the app) all happen locally. The app sends no dictation content, telemetry, analytics, or crash reports anywhere.
- Personal dictionary and settings are stored locally on your device (macOS user defaults, or the Windows equivalent app-data store) and are never transmitted.
- One-time speech-model download. On first launch the app downloads its speech-recognition model files (roughly 500–600 MB) from Hugging Face. This is a plain file download; no personal data or dictation content is sent. After that, the app makes no network connections for dictation or cleanup.
- License-key activation. Keys are validated entirely offline using a cryptographic signature — the app never contacts a server to check your license.
What we collect outside the app
Purchases are handled by Gumroad, which collects your email and payment details under its own privacy policy in order to deliver your download and license key. We receive your email and order details from Gumroad and use those only for license delivery, support, and (only if you opt in) product update emails.
Your rights
Email support@anodaw.com to access or delete the purchase records we hold about you. Data held by Gumroad is governed by its own policy and deletable through it.
Children
Anodaw is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy at anodaw.com/privacy.html with an updated date.
